A Memorable Introduction to the Game of Soccer

The Little Spartans U5 soccer program is designed to provide an age appropriate family soccer experience for 3 and 4 year old children. Whether you come into soccer with no knowledge, limited knowledge, or you’ve been involved in the game for years, everyone will benefit from this program.

This introductory program helps establish a foundation for the development of the 3 and 4 year old player. It's an age specific, story based approach and is built around the introduction and development of the core motor skills required to play the game of soccer. Experts in child development and education have indicated that most children of 3 and 4 years of age do not have the core motor skills sufficiently developed to play the game of soccer. That is why the focus of the U5 program is the development of those core motor skills. Through fun games and activities, the program develops balance, running, jumping, turning, hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness, all of which are essential to allow the young player to eventually learn and enjoy the game. The program does all this while involving the most important person in the child’s life, the parent. Active parent participation helps ensure that your child’s first “soccer season” is a memorable experience for the whole family!

Jason Stock of UK International leads a Little Spartans session.

This is not traditional soccer coaching. It goes far beyond that – it’s fun, energetic, age appropriate learning that is designed to foster a love for the game not only for the child but for the whole family. The curriculum each week offers activities for the children that encourages development of their core motor skills. The role of the lead coach (UK International) is to introduce the story outline and oversee the activity and encourage the children and the parents to simply have fun!

Sessions will run on Saturday mornings at Malerbo Field in Burlington, usually for 8 consecutive weeks. The first 45 minutes will involve the story-based activities and for the final 15 minutes, the kids will get to participate in an optional game-like activity on our 4v4 micro fields.

Due to the young age of the children, parent involvement is required. Registration includes a shirt and a size 3 ball. Shin guards are required.
